Publisher's Description:

Solar Model - The Solar Model is realtime modeling of solar system. It allows user to navigate in

space, to control time counting (speed-up time flow) and estimate real movement of

space bodies like planets, dwarf planets and moons. It also allows user to bind camera

to space objects (for example, you can look from Moon on Earth in real time flow).

Solar Model renders beautiful 3D space environment.

There are 2 video renderer: OpenGL and Direct3D9. This release also contain Configuration dialog that allows you to set up video driver, desired resolution, and some other rendering options. You can make screenshots with one click (Screenshot feature is new in this release).

There are also many implovements in 2.0 version:

- at last you may speed up camera movement speed :)

- totaly reworked GUI. Now all looks much pretty;

- improved asteroids looking. Now it renders as volumes with animation (like real space asteroids);

- added some info features -- shows current distance from the Sun, current time (yes, this release also set ups all planets to a REAL NOWADAYS positions and starts simulation from current date and time).

((and some more improvement you may read in changelog.txt inside ZIP-archive))

Hi,

I was lookoing for a desktop sophisticated interactive Solar System simulation model on the web for training puroses (not a screensaver).
I had problems with installing and running "The planets explorer " so I wrote an e-mail to its deveolpers requesting some help but their e-mail address was wrong (confirmed by my webmail administrator). I don't know if you are the developers in concern or not. If so, and could help me, I would be thankful. Otherwise thanks for writing to me and I remain with best regards

It's great but for one little problem....when looking at the view from say earth to the moon, you see the other planets and they are not in the right scale. Jupiter looks way to big when viewing the moon from earth. I know it's a small thing but I thought you should know. Other then the scale problem it's a nice program.

Great tool!

I find the Solar model very informative. Really good graphics and motion. Could be very uselful for school science projects.

It would have been nice if it was possible to hide the toolbars on top and information bars at the bottom.

Great tool!

Best
Francois

Sola Model review

All of the executable binaries work well however the 2.0 source fails to compile under vs.net and the 2.1 source has problems with gas giant textures and keypress over-sensetivity. (The textures seem to load well but they are only displayed when the planet is highlighted for selection. Arrow keys are WASD keys lack fine control. ) Any assistance with these issues will be greatly appreciated.

review note

I was unable to complete the process due to the program's alteration of my video settings. the screen was adjusted to 4 bit color and an unattainable resolution leaving everything so large I was barely able to restore to previously known good condition after trying to correct the video with no success.

The Earth is rotating the wrong way in your solar model.

Solar Model.

Hi all,
Just wanted to say that I have used Solar Modal and it runs great and clean. Nice work. I would suggest this software for any student or astronomical education unit that needs a a very realistic view of our solar system from different points of view in our system.Nice Job.

Solar Model

Nice stuff for students - simple with good graphics, thing like that should be more popular.
